The continuation of a classic of Brazilian literature.

 

After exactly 147 years after the novel Isaura the slave girl, was published for the first time, written by the Brazilian writer Bernardo Guimarães; the saga of the famous character gets a sequel; this time, written by an unconditional fan of the work of the writer from Minas Gerais.

 

Will Moret is the writer of the novel Elvira, daughter of Isaura.

The tale takes place exactly 45 years after Isaura conquered her freedom in the original novel. Published by Editora Ases of Literature, the book is available in many platforms, both physical and digital.






                                                                   SYNOPSIS

This story takes place in the 1880s, in Rio de Janeiro. Elvira is a woman of more than thirty years, daughter of former slave Isaura and Mr. Álvaro, who at this point in history, are already elderly; the couple's third daughter lives in court, and has a life; focused on politics, abolitionism of slavery and feminist issues. The first female businesswoman in Brazil, she is also one of the first to acquire the electoral title. Love arises in his life, in the figure of Philip, newly arrived lawyer from Italy. After saving Elvira's life, the two have a little romance, but because she doesn't feel completely willing to love, she asks him for time. Felipe travels to Campos dos Goytacazes, where he has a cousin who awaits him for a legal mission. Gilberto, Felipe's cousin, wishes to win in court, the farm that belonged to Leôncio Almeida, and which today belongs to d. Isaura, the one who was once a slave, claiming to be the bastard son of Leonius. After suffering a new attack, and having his house completely destroyed by a fire, Elvira returns to her parents' home in Campos, and during the hearing of the inheritance petition, Elvira recognizes Felipe, who advocates the cousin's petition, and accuses him of complicit in trying to destroy his family in court. After losing in court the recognition of Leôncio's son, Gilberto freaks out, removes Mr. Álvaro, Augusto and Miguel from the farm and keeps the women, D. Isaura, Elvira and Juliana in private prison, even placing, d. Isaura in the trunk. The end of this story is surprising.
